Overview

Barnsley Hospice provides Specialist Palliative Care to the local community completely free of charge. However, this year annual running costs have increased to £1.8 million, of which 50% of clinical funding is gratefully received from the Primary Care Trust. We therefore have to rely heavily on public and corporate donations, legacies and fundraising events and income from our charity shops to raise the remaining £900,000 – that is over £17,000 a week and the reason we are privileged to have the support of the local community.
