Care and Services

What is Palliative Care?

Palliative care is a special type of care for people whose illness may no longer be curable.
This may be cancer but also includes other life limiting illnesses.

Palliative care responds to the physical, psychological, social and spiritual needs of the patient and their family and extends if necessary to support in bereavement.
It is patient-centred and not disease-focused.

The aim is to achieve the best quality of life possible.
